Sailors in class
HOW DO I CHOOSE A CLUB?
Join a sailing club in Toronto! There are several things to consider when making your decision. For instance, will you take up sailing or windsurfing lessons or bring your boat? Each of the OHSF’s eight-member clubs has something special to offer. Or you may register your child in our Sailing Camp.

TO OWN OR NOT TO OWN
Mooredale, St. James Town and Westwood clubs are community-run clubs, each owning their fleets of sailboats – perfect for those who want to take up the sport of sailing but cannot afford the expense of owning or storing. Being a member of these clubs also means learning to help maintain community-owned boats.

PERSONALITY IS IMPORTANT
A co-operatively run club is nothing without its people since volunteers make everything run smoothly and keep it social. Each club also has something unique to offer. You’ll have a lot more fun if you join a club with people you can become friends with, so when checking us out, take a moment to meet and greet the members of each club to get a sense of what it’s about.

PARTICIPATION
Clubs encourage members to participate in activities, races, BBQs, and cleanup days to help strengthen their communities. Additionally, clubs, where members own boats, must either volunteer for 10-20 hours or pay a $25-$80 fee for each missed hour. There is a multi-year waitlist to join some of these clubs. Toronto residents who get out and use Toronto’s water park in the Outer Harbour and participate in their club community get the most out of being a member. Check each club’s race and social calendar to see if it fits in with yours.
