Hanlan Boat Club Receives Major Grant for Rowing Upgrades

Great news from our neighbour, the Hanlan Boat Club! They've secured a $92,100 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, enabling them to enhance their rowing fleet significantly. With this funding, Hanlan has acquired five new rowing boats, eight sets of sculling oars, and a new outboard motor to improve safety and accessibility for their programs. Nestled between the Water Rat Sailing Club and the Mooredale Sailing Club, the Hanlan Boat Club offers rowing for beginners to competitive athletes aged 10 to 90+. Another “100-year storm” leads to E. coli Warnings

Tuesday's rain storm delivered a month's rain in 3 hours, capping off a wet 7 days. It may have been Toronto's third “100-year storm” since 2013. It caused flooding in the Don Valley, the Portlands, and many areas in Toronto. It's recommended to not swim for two days after a big storm due to E. coli levels. Cherry Beach, usually a Blue Flag beach, was unsafe to swim on Wednesday. Bridge Closures, May 2024

The east bridge by the dragon boaters will be closed intermittently at night from next Wednesday evening to Friday. The Ship Channel Bridge on Cherry Street remains closed to traffic, and an update is coming. "Emergency Repair Start Date: Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 8 p.m.  Expected End Date: Friday, May 31, 2024. The adjacent Martin Goodman Trail bridge will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists."

Regatta Road Revival: Join Us for Earth Day Cleanup! Sat, April 20, 10 am

Two new landmark bridges open in the Portlands

Getting to the Outer Harbour is now easier. "The Cherry Street North and Commissioners Street Bridges, part of Waterfront Toronto's ambitious $1.3 billion revitalization project, are now open to the public.
